The world is not yet exhausted; let me see something tomorrow which I never saw before.

Welcome Home
Wild Michigan is the home for Great Lakes Naturalists and Traditional Skills enthusiasts. Are you interested in the outdoors, camping, primitive fire (bow drill, hand drill, flint & steel), tracking, birding, edible plants, medicinal plants, etc. Look here for information on these subjects as well as other wilderness and survival training in the Great Lakes area.
Check out the calendar for a list of nature, awareness or survival classes that are being offered by local nature centers and wilderness mentors.
Sorry there are no coming events. If you know of something, please log in and enter it in the database.
The site is undergoing a massive overhaul. Please be patient while I go back over everything. I like the new look and the new menu. I hope that you do also.
In 2001 I became aware of Tom Brown Jr.; The Tracker School; and a local student of his that was teaching Wilderness Awareness and Survival Skills. In the time since then I have spent many waking hours reading about this subject and trying to find other ways to learn these skills.
I have stumbled across other teachers and other organizations that are trying to teach people about the outdoors and the birds, mammals and other creatures that exist there.
It is my intent that this site will help others find these teachers and organizations quicker than I did. This will also help the teachers get more students and help spread the word that the Earth Mother is alive. She is changing, but she will endure. The Earth Mother and the other creatures on her can be our greatest teachers. By rediscovering her we can regain the awe and wonder that we felt as kids. We can reconnect with her and feel something that is magical.
Please spend some time looking at the pages that are contained here. If you see something of interest take a deeper look. If you know of a mentor or organization that would fit on these pages, please let me know.
I have also decided to use this site to tell others about experiments and experiences that I have while walking this this path. For example, what is it really like to have a worm bin? What about growing edible mushrooms? Does it really work?
In an effort to be able to continue to do this. I am adding a button to allow you to donate funds to allow me to continue attending classes, buy books, etc. Click the paypal button if you are lead to.
